**Afrivet** was acquired by **[Bimeda](https://www.bimeda.com)** in August 2022. Bimeda is a global manufacturer, marketer and distributor of veterinary pharmaceuticals and animal health products.

Bimeda’s has a long-established presence in Africa, with Bimeda products sold on the continent for four decades.

Afrivet is part of Bimeda’s AMEA division, which is headquartered in Kenya, and has subsidiaries in Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia. The acquisition of Afrivet saw Bimeda transition from being the largest player in East Africa, to having the biggest footprint of any animal health company across the entire continent of Africa.

Bimeda is an entrepreneurial, family-owned company which was founded in Ireland in 1960 and which has 6 decades of experience in global excellence in animal health. Bimeda products are currently distributed in over eighty countries globally with the group operating eleven manufacturing facilities, across eight countries, nine Research & Development centres and two diagnostic laboratories.
