Afrivet Assurance / Companion Animals





Companion Animal Deworming Assurance


Afrivet assurance is an initiative of Afrivet Business Management (Pty) Ltd. (Afrivet) Customers using the products listed below will receive the following assurance:

  • Should a dog that has been dewormed, as per the deworming schedule printed below, become clinically ill, as a result of infestation with Canine Roundworm (Toxacara canis), Canine Hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum) and Canine Whipworm (Trichuris vulpis). Afrivet will cover the treatment costs of the animal involved. These costs will be limited to the treatment of the animal, including veterinary consultation, hospitalization and medical costs. In the event of the animal dying or becoming disabled as a result of the failure of the deworming product, Afrivet will not be held liable for the replacement costs of the animal involved or for any form of monetary compensation as a result of ensuing psychological damages that may be experienced by the owner concerned.
  • This assurance will only be valid if the owner administers the below mentioned product to their dog according to the manufacturers specifications and according to the deworming schedule below. The proof of purchase of the product must be kept by the veterinarian and the owner must keep a record of when the dewormer has been given.
  • The assurance shall only remain in effect, for the period that Afrivet has distribution rights of the product concerned. Claims are limited to Afrivet only and are not in any way warranted by the principals or registration holders of the products concerned.
  • Assurance is limited to the use of Afrivet products only.

Canine Deworming Schedule


Dolpac range of deworming tablets.

  • Bitches must be dewormed 2 weeks before whelping.
  • Puppies between the ages of 2-3 months must be dewormed every 2 weeks.
  • Puppies between the ages of 3 and 6 months must be dewormed every 4 weeks.
  • Puppies over 6 months of age must be dewormed every 3 months.
  • Adult dogs must be dewormed every three months


Dolpac® 10 – Reg no. G3845 Act 36/1947 oxantel (as embonate oxantel) 200.28 mg, pyrantel 49.94 mg (as embonate pyrantel), and praziquantel 50.00 mg, excipient to one 950 mg divisible tablet.

Dolpac® 25 - Reg no. G3846 Act 36/1947 oxantel (as embonate oxantel) 500.70 mg, pyrantel 124.85 mg (as embonate pyrantel), and praziquantel 125.000 mg, excipient to one 2,375 mg divisible tablet.

Vaccines


Should a fully vaccinated animal, become clinically ill with any of the diseases vaccinated against, Afrivet will cover the treatment costs of the animal involved. These costs will be limited to the treatment of the animal, including veterinary consultation, hospitalization and medicinal costs. In the event of the animal dying or becoming disabled as a result of failure of the vaccine, Afrivet will not be held liable for the replacement costs of the animal involved or for any form of monetary compensation as a result of ensuing psychological damages the may be experienced by the owner concerned.

This assurance will only be valid if a registered veterinarian administers the blow mentioned products, to the correct target species, and according to the manufacturers specifications only. Vaccination records must be kept and signed by the veterinarian.

This assurance shall only remain in effect, for the period that Afrivet has distribution rights of the products concerned. Claims are limited to Afrivet only and are not in any way warranted by the principals or registration holders of the products concerned.

Canine Vaccines

Duramune Max5, Duramune Max5 / 4L, Duramune Max 5-CvK, Duramune Max 5-Cvk/4L

Puppies (younger than 1 year)
Vaccinate from 6 weeks of age with 1ml of Duramune vaccine, revaccinate at three/four weekly intervals until the age of 14 weeks. (i.e. 3 vaccinations at 6, 9, 12 weeks of age or 3 vaccinations at 6, 10, 14 weeks of age) Annual booster given within 12 months of last vaccination.

Adult vaccinated dogs (1 year and older)
All adult dogs to be vaccinated with 1ml of Duramune vaccine twice, at 12 monthly intervals.

Adult unvaccinated dogs (1 year and older)
All adult dogs to be vaccinated with 1ml of Duramune vaccine twice, with a month's interval, thereafter annual vaccination (12 monthly interval).

Feline Vaccines

Fel-O-Vax PCT +Calicivax, Fel-O-Vax IV, Fel-O-Vax IV LvK +Calicivax

Kittens (younger than 1 year)
Vaccinated from 8 weeks of age with Fel-O-Vax +Calicivax vaccine, followed by a second dose 3-4 weeks later. (i.e. 2 vaccinations at 8, 12 weeks of Age). Annual booster within 12 months of last vaccination.

Adult vaccinated cats (1 year and older)
All adult cats to be vaccinated with Fel-O-Vax +Calicivax twice, at 12 month intervals.

Adult unvaccinated cats (1 year and older)
All adult cats to be vaccinated with Fel-O-Vax +Calicivax vaccine twice, at 1 monthly interval, thereafter annual vaccination (12 monthly interval).

Fel-O-VAX FIV (All cats and kittens older than 8 weeks)
All cats must be tested prior to vaccination, and proven to be free of FIV. Cats 8 weeks and older vaccinated at any age, 2 additional vaccines must be administered at 2-3 week intervals. Annual revaccination MUST be given at exact 12 monthly intervals, to ensure effective protection. Failure to do so will render the vaccine ineffective, and the assurance nul and void.
